A Very Merry Bromance – Lyssa Kay Adams

The final book in The Bromance Book Club series by Lyssa Kay Adams, A Very Merry Bromance, doesn’t disappoint. I had avoided picking it up because I thought it was a Christmas novella, and I was excited to find out it was a full-sized book! The last key member of the book club, Colton Wheeler, connects with Mack’s former girlfriend, Gretchen Winthrop. The two undergo significant life changes while figuring out what’s happening between them. It sizzles, it’s set at Christmas time, and the found family vibes are lovely.

The overarching premise of The Bromance Book Club series takes a backseat in this book. The first book, The Bromance Book Club, was filled with multiple chapters from the novel the book club was reading, along with scenes of the men discussing the book and its application to their lives. In contrast, A Very Merry Bromance focuses more on the personal growth of Colton and Gretchen, with only two or three chapters from the book club book, and two or three scenes where it is mentioned rather than discussed. While the group of men continues to display healthy relationships, it’s Colton and Gretchen who take the lead in their relationship, making significant progress on their own.

The stark contrast between Colton and Gretchen’s families adds a layer of intensity to the story. One family provides overwhelming support, while the other is an absolute wreck, creating a significant amount of drama. Once Gretchen’s motivations become clear to Colton, his actions are nothing short of impressive. The book club members, with their spouses and kids, form a found family of their own, showcasing the power of support and love.

A quick and light read, A Very Merry Bromance did a fantastic job of displaying a couple learning to navigate a healthy relationship, how to treat people you love and, of course, a pleasing happily ever after. I wish it had referenced the book club book more, as I wanted to hear more about how that story went, too.
